C\u2019est pourquoi ce projet de num\u00e9risation et de mod\u00e9lisation 3D, tant de l\u2019\u00e9difice lui-m\u00eame que de celui de ses abords, vise \u00e0 contribuer \u00e0 re-visiter un site patrimonial de premi\u00e8re importance en r\u00e9tablissant virtuellement ce lien entre les deux rives qui, apr\u00e8s la disparition du pont romain d\u2019Arles, constitua pendant longtemps le seul franchissement au-dessus du fleuve entre Lyon ou Vienne et la mer. La restitution de l\u2019ouvrage d\u2019art, un des buts de l\u2019op\u00e9ration, ne prendrait pas tout son sens si nous ne le remettions pas en sc\u00e8ne dans son paysage fluvial. De ce fait, le projet comportera une dimension g\u00e9ohistorique importante pour laquelle seront mis en \u0153uvre des \u00e9tudes g\u00e9o-morphologiques et pal\u00e9o-environnementales exploit\u00e9es par les moyens num\u00e9riques de simulation les plus r\u00e9cents exploitant les syst\u00e8mes d\u2019information g\u00e9ographique. Le mod\u00e8le num\u00e9rique de terrain couvrant la zone \u00e9tudi\u00e9e (environ 50 km2) fera appel aux donn\u00e9es les plus pr\u00e9cises issues de l\u2019IGN compl\u00e9t\u00e9es par des acquisitions a\u00e9riennes \u00e0 tr\u00e8s basse altitude (&lt; 50 m) op\u00e9r\u00e9es \u00e0 partir d\u2019un drone h\u00e9licopt\u00e8re ou d\u2019un ballon.\u00a0 La num\u00e9risation et l\u2019accessibilit\u00e9 en ligne des contenus culturels sont essentielles \u00e0 la pr\u00e9servation et \u00e0 la valorisation du patrimoine. Ce projet de num\u00e9risation et de restitution du pont d\u2019Avignon dans son paysage fluvial r\u00e9pond \u00e0 ces deux pr\u00e9occupations.
